Southern City Classic 2008Qual: 3rd
Pre-Final: 4th
Final: 3rd

A 35 lap race in the afternoon was very challenging. We thought about setup over 35 laps too much when we should have just left the kart the way we would normally run it. I knew it was going to be a long race from the start when Jace Lindstrom and Franky Costanzo pulled a gap on the first lap! I had a race long battle with Mitchell Cuzens and finished a distant 4th place.

The final was under lights and much more to my liking. I passed Cuzens in the infield on the first lap and caught Lindstrom and Costanzo, however the positions remained that way as i was not fast enough in the right spots to make a passing move. I finished 3rd and recieved $100 for my troubles.

Qual: 18th
Heat 1: 23rd
Heat 2: 14th
Pre-Final: 17th
Final: 18th

A very long trip to be so far off the pace. A disappointing weekend which starting more promising then it ended. the first heat and the pre final i was knocked off at the start and drove back through to pick up some places. The final i was as high as 13th place until some faster karts came through that DNFed the pre-final. A stressfull week but we'll learn from it.

Qual: 13th
Heat 1: 5th
Heat 2: 5th
Pre-Final: 6th
Final: DQ

Good heat races in the dry and wet saw sit 3rd for the pre final. Didn't show great speed in the pre final and dropped back to 6th place. In the final on the 6th lap i got crashed into, kart went over the top of me and tore the transponder off so i was disqualified from the race despite limping home in 10th place with a bent steering column and stub axle. Disappointing end to an otherwise competitive weekend.

All Star Series Round 4Heat 1: 5th
Heat 2: 2nd
Pre-Final: 12th
Final: 8th

After some good heat races I was 3rd for the pre-final. The heavens opened up just before my pre-final and the kart was not very good in the wet - I dropped to 12th. The finals were reduced to 8 laps due to time constraints so I didn't get past too many karts and finished in 8th place.

All Star Series Round 3 - Winter Cup Geelong
Tuesday, June 03, 2008

Heat 1: 4th
Heat 2: 10th
Pre-Final: DNF
Final: 4th

After starting 23rd for the final it was always going to be a tough race to get through the pack. I managed to keep my nose clean and found myself 9th at the end of the first lap. The kart was very strong and just missed out on fastest lap by .001 of a second. I caught the leading trio on the last lap but did not have enough time to bump myself up into the top 3.

All Star Series Round 2 - VACC Park
Tuesday, May 06, 2008

Heat 1: DNF
Heat 2: DNF
Heat 3: 11th
Final: DNF

A shocking weekend had me finish 1 out of the 4 races. However the kart speed was good. Starting 25th and last for the pre-final i managed to finish 11th and during the final i was making a move for 5th which didn't come off and i ended up backwards. Cannot wait for Geelong at the end of the month to see if we can carry over some of that good speed.

Australian Nationals 2008Qual: 25th
Heat 1: 12th
Heat 2: 19th
Pre final: DNF
Final: 13th

The biggest meeting of the year and i had a resonable weekend. We got the setup wrong in Qualifying which set us back a little bit but pressed on. Up to 12th in the first heat with the mid pack boxing on was encouraging. I was up to 14th in the 2nd heat but was pushed out and dropped back to 19th.

Started out of 16th in the pre final but was shunted off big time at the start of the 2nd lap. This left us with a bent axle, steering column and 2 tie rod ends and a starting position of 29th for the final. I faught my way through to finish 13th with only 3 DNF's in front of me i was extremely pleased with the pace the kart had. I think we are starting to get on top of the new kart which is promising.

Not a bad start with the new kart which has really only turned a handful of laps. 3 and a half tenths of a second left me 27th in qualifying and then i only moved forwards, starting 22nd in the final and moving up to 15th.

Intrepid for '08

New IntrepidWith a new year brings new colors. 2008 sees us move from the Arrow kart which i have raced with since i started racing to the Intrepid chassis. I first tested the kart in December and only got my kart a few weeks ago. We have only completed one test day heading into the Victorian Open Championships so it's learn as we go - but the early signs have been very good.

With the DNF in the pre-final i started 22nd for the final. I survived the start with some extremely close near misses. Picked off karts for the rest of the race to finish 9th. We have had some big problems with the kart of late and think we are now on top of them for our meetings to come. Time will tell.

 2-3/12/2006 Victorian Closed Titles - Qual 1st, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd - 2nd Overall
Swan Hill ThunderdomeIt was hot and extremely dusty up at Swan Hill for this meeting. The kart has returned home looking like I've been racing speedway. Saturday morning we had two qualifying sessions - I went fastest in the first session just 0.047 faster than Jeremy Anderson. The second session most drivers went slower - I was fastest in the session this time only a mere 0.024 faster than Aaron Ivermee but 1 tenth slower than the first session. I was extremely happy going fastest at an event like this.

The first heat I had a race long battle with Anderson - I regained the lead on lap 5 but lost it again the next lap. With 2 laps to go I made the move and made it stick winning the race by 0.220. The second heat Anderson and myself swapped the lead each lap up till lap 4 when Lee Mitchener moved up into 2nd place and then passed me for the lead on lap 6 - I tucked in behind Mitchener for the reminder of the race. Those two results gave me pole for the pre-final - This time i held the lead at the start, Anderson making a move on me on lap 4 which dropped me back to 3rd. I got back past Anderson 2 laps later for 2nd place and took off after Mitchener. I ran out of laps finishing only 0.120 behind him.

Swan Hill - LeadingStarting 2nd for the final I knew if I didn't take the lead into the first corner I'd fall back into the pack - and that's exactly what happened. Mitchener and I were neck and neck into the first corner but I had to give way - I dropped a wheel on the exit and this allowed Anderson, Ivermee and Condemi past me as well - I was back to 5th. I moved back up into 3rd place on lap 6 and then Anderson just didn't seem interested in catching Mitchener. Everytime I went past Anderson he'd go back under me again - at one stage I dropped back to 4th again when Ivermee got under me after Anderson passed me. It was good hard racing though, no contact being made. I finally got a gap on Anderson after passing him on lap 16/19 and knew it was all too late as Mitchener was 5 seconds down the track.

Was great weekend to have such good speed but I was glad to be heading home out of all the dust! The summer break now - the first meeting back is the Victorian Open State Championships at Cobden and I'm really looking forward to that!

 25-26/11/2006 OGKRC Class Titles - Qual 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st - 1st Overall
Well the Class Titles had arrivedand I wanted to go one better then last years result of 2nd. I got off to a great start by putting it on pole position just 0.083 faster than Daniel Wells with Michael Griffiths 3rd fastest. First heat Wells got to the front but wipped off too much speed on the last lap defending and I drove around the outside of him going into the last corner of the race. The 2nd heat I lead start to finish with Ryhs Gooch finishing in 2nd stop. Sunday morning I was off pole position for the pre-final - i got a good start and got a gap on the others as they sorted themselves out - Griffiths followed by Gooch rounding out the top 3. The all important final - the only one that really mattered on the weekend. I got the start I needed and had a small margin to the pack. As they battled for position I pulled a gap large enough to not get run down. By the end of the 12 lap final I had a 2.5 second gap over Griffiths who had Gooch close behind him. Pole position, 4 fastest laps and 4 race wins - what more could I want from the weekend? We were very pleased with the speed we showed over the weekend. One meeting left for this year - The Victorian Closed Titles at Swan Hill.

 28/10/2006 October Club Day - Qual 1st, 2nd, 2nd - 2nd Overall
Less than 100 points seperated myself and Michael Griffiths in the Club Championship points so going into the final club day i knew if I beat Griffiths then i would win overall. Clubman Heavy was the feature class so we had to qualify. I qualified fastest - 3 tenths faster than Daniel Wells and Griffiths. I took the win in the first heat followed by Wells and then Griffiths. The second heat Wells got to the front and as we pulled away from Griffiths I wasn't all that eager to get past Wells - I finished second and Griffiths 3rd. That put me on 2nd for the final and again I sat behind Wells. Again we pulled away from Griffiths so on the last 2 laps I had a go to beat Wells (Feature class was final only on the day). I passed Wells at the first heairpin on the last lap but he got back under me at the next turn and I ended up quite offline and lost enough ground for Wells to take the win with not much pressure. In the final i also managed to set a time of 42.1 - just 1 tenth of Remo Luciani lap record back in 2004. The track was super fast under lights - so it was good to have that kind of speed.  2nd on the day but I did the job to win the Club Championship.

 30/9 - 1/10/2006 Australasian Kart Titles - 7th, DNF, 5th, 2nd - 2nd Overall

At last - something worth writing about! Actually the site is undergoing a complete rebuild including a brand new look! So stay tuned for that. Another trip to Numurkah - a track we have been to quite a few times now and one that is quite enjoyable. I drew last and pole. Last being 14th and made my way up through the pack to 7th after 10 laps. Not a bad results considering the track is rather difficult to pass on. Pole for the second heat i got an average start and was sandwiched at the first corner which ended up in a massive pile up. Some damage to the kart but worse news was that it meant i would be mid field at best for 3rd heat (not pre final). I started 9th and made my way up to 5th in the pre final - not too far off the leading group. The final i got a great start for a change and i was straight onto the leading 3 having avoided a collision at the first corner. I had a good battle with Brendon McGinniskin and Brett Arnett. I moved up into second with about 7 laps to go (20 lap final) and i had to chase down Ian Murray. I ran out of laps and finished a couple of kart lengths behind in the end. Strong consistant pace was great - just a shame i didnt get to start at the front. Southern City Classic/Central City Series Round 3 at Oakleigh is my next meet.

 6/8/2006 City Series Round 1 - Qual 18th, 14th, DNF, 19th, 10th

GeelongFinally, time to run some races in a series! Geelong is the first of 3 rounds with the other 2 being Todd Rd and Oakleigh in the next coming months. We found ourselves a little bit off the pace but we are working at this big meeting stuff. By the end of the weekend we were only a couple of tenths of the fastest guys so its not too bad. I had a pretty big crash in the second heat (see photos) which we were lucky not to have any serious damage (to both the kart and the driver) and that put us right back for the pre-final. The pre-final was on a drying track and half the field went wets and other half went slicks. We went wets which was wrong choice but stayed in same position as i started. The final we got the kart working a lot better. Some close and heaps fun racing saw me finish as high as 10th by the chequered flag.
